Mrs. Catalanotti’s First Graders

The first graders in Mrs. Catalanotti’s class have been working hard on their story writing all year. They have been focusing on writing about one particular event and stretching the story with details. After we (finally) had some snow this month, they wrote about a time they played in the snow.

It’s snowing – yippee! I am so excited  because today I get to have a snowball fight with my sister. I love snowball fights. It sounds like a big bomb hitting a building. Sometimes I get hit, but it doesn’t hurt. I can’t feel the wet because I am wearing a cozy coat and furry gloves. Snowball fights are splendid. So much fun I don’t want to stop. It was wicked fun!

I am super at skiing. I am going down an icy hill – ahhhhhh! I think I am going to crash into that big bump. Wow! I am flying and then I went back.

Yay, it’s snowing outside. I made a snowman by myself. It was fun making a snowman in the snow. I feel the snow and it is cold.

I love the snow! I built a snowman and a big, white igloo. It was humungous! I had a good time. After a while, I was in the finished igloo. It started melting and I got stuck in there. I was a little scared, but it was so much fun. Then I played with the snowman. I had a really good time.

I am pulling on my sled so hard my hand is turning red. It was snowing so hard my sled was rumbling. I didn’t want to stop. I kept sledding down the hill. I felt like I was going to fall back. I tried and tried, but it was so hard. Finally, I stopped and pulled my sled down. It was so super. By the time I was done the sun was setting. I was freezing.

I like the snow! I’m sledding.  Look, a jump and a ditch. Can I make it? I made it! Hey, look it’s my dad and my mom. Hey guys! It’s time to go in Dante. It’s freezing! Can I go down the hill one more time? Okay.

I love the snow! I built a big igloo. It was really awesome! Everyone was outdoors and everyone was screaming as loud as they could. I wanted to go inside!

SNOW! SNOW! I love SNOW! The wind is zipping very hard. I love to sled. Whee! That’s a big hill. I’m going again. Snow is as soft as a bunny’s fur. Brrr and as cold as a frozen popsicle. It is so cold, but so fun. Time to go in Mia! But I’ve only gone two times. Okay, you can go one more time and then come in.

Yipee! I really love skating. If I press where it says “press here” on my snow globe I will go into it. I will go straight to the park. There is a frozen lake there. I will skate on it. I would skate all day all on my own. All on account  that it’s all mine! I love my park. It’s so beautiful. If my friends and family would just come with me. Now you should love skating too by reading about my adventures.

I made a huge snowman with Anthony and Justin. We rushed outside. We rolled a snowball. Then we made two more. The nose was a short carrot. We cut out holes and used rocks for eyes. We used rocks to make a smile. I felt excited when we finished.
